Callie King CRK Training
Callie King is a young woman who has a wonderful online presence with her extensive videos on how you too can learn her incredible training methods using positive reinforcement and also how to be a better rider. Callie’s instructional videos are clear and concise and are grounded in science and almost etherial in the results she is able to attain with her relationship with her horses and the horses that come into her care for training.
Callie found this way of training like so many of the other trainers I have interviewed on this podcast, through a horse that simply wouldn’t cooperate with negative reinforcement training methods or anything to do with pressure and release, and domination.
Callie King is a young woman who has not let the horse world tell her how things “should” be. After some adversarial training methods used by a trainer when she was a teenager, Callie decided that there had to be a better way.
After reading a dog training book to teach her own dog, Freida, methods of learning new things, Callie’s interest in the positive reinforcement training methods was on the rise.
She then read widely about all kind of behaviour in both animals and humans, Callie found that this method was something her “troubled” horses responded to almost immediately in a very positive way.
Callie has studied Equine Behaviour with Equitation Science International and now also has incredible mentors that help her along the way. I am amazed at the amount of information Callie has on her website to help anyone in the world who has a horse and an internet connection. Callie instructs you on how to change the way you are training to a more positive method, one that both the horse and human can be proud of.
If you want to also find balance and an independent seat then Callie has great videos on how to be a better rider as well. It’s so important to always be taking advice and coaching on your riding as it has such an enormous impact on the horse beneath you, on whether or not they are balanced, if they can move freely and keep themselves without an injury.
Callie is a breath of fresh air in the horse industry with her knowledge and ability to teach in a way that is clear and easy to understand. Her business sense is also great as she has a digital footprint in so many areas that I’d be surprised if you are not already aware of who she is.
To connect with Callie and follow her blog that is released every Friday or to see many of her free and paid online courses, go to her website. It is the hub of all information she offers. You can also follow Callie on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or join in on her over 50,000 following on YouTube.
I’m so happy to have found Callie and have her as a part of our community of gentle and ethical horse people who are striving to help humans make the world a better place for horses to live in.
